How a Facebook Like button can drive more traffic to your website

Posted by: Michael Reynolds, President/CEO on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 3:04:11 pm

Most people I talk to are interested in more traffic to their websites. Traffic is good, right? It increases brand awareness, gets attention focused on your content, and can lead to new customers. If you could increase traffic to your website by adding one small button to your blog, would you do it?

So would I! That's why I added a Facebook "Like" button to allow visitors to share their approval on Facebook. The new Like button allows website visitors to give a thumbs up to your content with just one click. Then, then click shows up as an activity message on that person's Facebook news feed with a link back to the article, like this:

Everyone in my friend list will now see that I liked this article and they can then click on it to view the original post on my website. This makes it very easy for people to promote your content for you. Just be sure you write content that use useful to people so they will be inspired to "Like" it.

Adding the button is easy and it requires just one piece of code. If you're a SpinWeb client, just post a comment below or contact me and I'll make sure we install it on your blog. If you are comfortable adding your own code to your blog, you can use this snippet.

Just paste it in at the top of your blog content and you should be all set. Comments and questions are welcome. If you liked this, don't forget to click the button at the top :) Enjoy!
